I have had this dispenser for about a month now and couldn't be happier.
I have owned a pitcher by Pur for several years and love it. I decided
to get the dispenser because my wife and I drink a lot of water and we
were having to refill our pitcher 3 or 4 times a day. Just like my
pitcher the dispenser provides great tasting water. With the 1 gallon
capacity of this unit I only have to refill it once a day or less and it
is much easier to fill a glass using the spout rather than having to
remove a pitcher from the fridge. My one small (very small) complaint is
the amount of time it takes for the water to pass through the
filter...VERY slowly. Although to be honest I probably wouldn't complain
if I hadn't already owned the Pur pitcher and known how much faster
that filter is. Overall I'm very happy with this item and highly
recommend it.
I loved this - I started drinking more water and
it tasted great. We have terrible tasting city water but this took care
of the horrible taste beautifully. It was a perfect fit in the fridge
and so convenient, but after 2 1/2 months it started leaking out in the
refrigerator. I had it happen twice and both times it was full of water
and leaked the entire basin of water out! What a mess!! I discovered a
crack in the bottom of the basin, so there was no fix. Unfortunately
warranty expired after 1 month so I'm stuck buying another one or going
without. Without the leaking problem this would have been a different 5
star product.
Great tasting water, I love the dial that tells
you when to replace the filter, who can remember that stuff. Spigot is
sturdy and never leaky. Overall, very well designed other than my one
and only complaint, they made the spigot very close to the container
itself, so everytime you need water, you must pull the entire container
forward so the spigot can reach your cup. It would have been an
absolutely perfect design if they had made the spigot stick out a little
further.
I decided to go green and cancel the water delivery
service I have had for a number of years. The water where I live has a
taste of chlorine and, well, dirt. The Pur 2 Stage dispenser removes
those tastes completely and I really can't tell any difference between
it and bottled water. As far as what's still in the water goes, I
haven't gone to the extreme of having it analyzed, so I don't know.
Based on cost alone the Pur is far and away the more economical choice,
and I don't have to feel guilty about having filtered water. The only
reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that, in my opinion, it
could use a few changes, like non-skid pads on the bottom and perhaps a
bit more capacity.
